Natural ventilation can be categorized into single-sided and cross-ventilation. Based on the air flow mechanism of a wind-driven natural ventilation, effective rates in buildings are different from through openings. The mixing coefficient or efficiency is defined by ratio these rates, indicating ventilating ability similar to effect penetration depth fresh air.
